Not everyone is cut out to be a stand up comedian, just like not everyone is cut out to be a doctor or a teacher. But what if you have the "stuff" and did not ever find out or not? It is kind of one of those - you will never know until you try it. With out some outside help, you will have a hard time finding your direction. You could hire consultants or go to costly and inconvenient classes and workshops, by why not ease into it with a book that will show you some can't miss information to get you started. Like I said, stand up comedy is not for everyone so before you spend your time and money on consultations and classes, why don't you "ease" into it first?
Stand up comedy doesn't only happen in the big clubs and arenas. There are many, many other opportunities to hone your craft. You will not make a ton (or even any money) with some of these smaller opportunities, but they will give you what every stand up comedian needs - experience. There are community events, private clubs and organizations, church functions (clean comedy only). You get the picture. And like most everything else - practice makes perfect. And perfect gets you one step to the bigger clubs and paychecks.
Whether you have tried it before or are totally new to stand up comedy, there are some things that you absolutely have to learn: What do I talk about on stage? How do I remember my material easily when on stage? What if I have hecklers - how do I handle them? This guide will answer these and many more so that you will be able to start or improve your delivery and your finshed comedy product.
